Joyce Carol Oates is a legend. She is the author of 58 novels, as well as plays, criticism, and short story and poet collections. She reads "Deceit," from Black Dahlia & White Rose, about a mother struggling to respond to allegations of abuse made about her teenage daughter.
This is Joyce's first appearance on the podcast.

Ted Leo is a songwriter, a podcaster, and a tremedously prolific and committed performer. His recent collaborations with Aimee Mann include their band The Both and the podcast The Art of Process. Ted plays a song called "Deceit," and reflects on his own history of abuse.
